Common Sense Fossil Collecting
Plesiosarus Humerous with Bite Marks !

There are other fine areas to collect fossils in Texas, or so we have heard and so we decided to go and check some of them out. We took a drive through the Texas Hill Country over Spring Break and searched for some good finds in rock formations of different types then we were used to seeing. Most of what we found was in hard rock and so we didn't bust it out. We did find some nice things to pack home with us. Check it out ! Email

Spring Break, 2004

Mountain Home , Texas Frio River in Concan,Texas Lost Maples State Natrual Area , Mystic Canyon Shores of Lake Amistad Hwy 271 North of Del Rio, Texas


The Spring weather was beautiful for "most" of our trip. We stopped in at Texas Hills Vineyards and sampled some wine and picked up a couple of bottles for the road and circled our way through the hills looking for good rocks and wound up in Kerrville for the night. We escaped a big time flash flood by just a few hours. 4+ inches of rain fell and it really was something to see all the water.The next day we headed down towards Mexico to see if we could find good things there. The Mexican food was great but we didn't get too many rocks. We finished off Spring Break with a trip out to the North Sulphur River with some of our Grand kids. The boys found some good stuff to complete they're science projects for school. Mason found a big Mosasaurus tooth. Below are just a few of the bones we found.
